Everybody wants that elusive six-pack. So much so that they spend hours in the gym every day trying to get it, but no matter how hard they try, they just can’t seem to develop their abs.

Your abs don’t have to be so elusive!

In fact, chances are you are working against your goals and preventing yourself from developing abs.

If you are spending hours in the gym just trying to work on getting a small, well-toned waist, stop. You don’t need to do that.

There are two mistakes that I see people making every day that is keeping them from getting those six-pack abs they have always wanted.

Two BIG Mistakes You Are Making

The first mistake that most people are making is not dialing in their nutrition. If you are not eating right, you will never get that.

Nutrition is more important than anything, no matter what your goals are. Workouts are only a small part of the equation and only contribute up to 20% of your results. If you are eating the wrong foods, then all the time you are spending in the gym is just wasted effort.

Stop Eating Processed Foods

Eating processed foods is the biggest culprit, and this includes your refined carbs and all the added sugars that are put into the things we eat today.

Dial-in your nutrition by focusing on whole foods. These are foods that are as close to nature as possible and are most often found on the outer perimeter of your grocery store. Choose fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats.

Our society today is set up for convenience, and nothing is more convenient than being able to drive through a fast-food restaurant to grab a quick meal on the go, or just buying a frozen dinner at the store and popping it into the microwave for a few minutes.

And, it is natural to want to snack between meals, but the snacks that most people are eating are processed and full of artificial ingredients, added sugars, and trans fats.

Think of it this way…

A potato is a whole food. You can go outside and grow one for yourself and eat it. On the other hand, a potato chip is not a whole food. Yes, it is made from the potato, but it has been altered and ingredients have been added. You can’t go outside and grow a potato chip.

Stop Doing the Wrong Exercises

The second thing I see too many people who want abs doing is working on their obliques. They spend hours in the gym working their oblique muscles trying to get a smaller waist.

Stop.

When you work your obliques, you are working the outer muscles around your waist and this will actually cause your waist to appear larger, even though it is all muscle.

You also don’t have to spend hours in the gym every day to develop the muscles in the mid-section – you are simply working too hard.

How to Develop Your Six Pack

If you want abs, then what you need to do is simple. After you dial in your nutrition, then you should focus on your workouts.

And guess what?

The workouts are quick and easy. No need to spend hours in the gym every day killing yourself and never seeing results.

Here is all you need to do… and you only need to do it every other day:

  • Yoga Ball Crunches – Or other types of crunch
  • Mountain Climbers – Or other high-intensity exercises that focus on your core

Add 10 minutes of these two exercises into your workout routine every other day and you will start to tighten your core and develop your abs.
